Building a Safe Laboratory Environment to facilitate meaningful Science at SNIPR

Ana joined SNIPR eight years ago after relocating from USA to Denmark. With an academic background in environmental microbiology from Spain and the USA, she was ready to transition into industry and was drawn to SNIPR’s mission. “People are here because they believe in what we are doing. This isn’t just a job — it’s about creating something for the future, for people.”

During SNIPR’s early days, Ana helped build the labs and contributed to the phage discovery platform. Later, she joined the in vivo pharmacology team, embracing the chance to learn something entirely new. “I was grateful to be given that opportunity.”

Leading with Empathy and Flexibility

Today, Ana leads lab operations and focuses on mentoring her team. “I enjoy guiding my team and helping them grow, it brings me a new sense of purpose beyond lab work.”

She values SNIPR’s culture of trust and flexibility. “If something happens at home, I can just tell my manager that I need to go — and I go. That means a lot.”

Her leadership style is built on empathy, honesty, and motivation. “I care about how people feel and I value honesty both ways.”

Ana has also been a driving force behind SNIPR’s work environment organization since the beginning, helping ensure a safe and supportive workplace. “It’s important that employees are fairly represented and have a good structure and safe environment to work in.”

Collaboration in a Global Community

As an international employee, Ana appreciates SNIPR’s inclusive culture. “The day-to-day life is in English, which makes it easier to connect and fosters a sense of community. There are many internationals here, and this makes you feel less homesick — people understand and relate to how you feel.”

Ana believes that collaboration is essential to SNIPR’s success. “All the other teams interact with us — and we’re here to help them thrive.”

She sees SNIPR as more than just a workplace. “People find friends here. You don’t need to find friends at work, but it’s nice that we like each other enough to meet outside of work.”
