Senior Lab Technician — Still Learning Every Day
A New Chapter at SNIPR
After 28 years in the same big pharma company, Tina faced an unexpected change. “I was let go during an organizational restructuring. Suddenly, I had to reinvent myself — update LinkedIn and start looking for jobs for the first time in years.” While exploring opportunities, she began following SNIPR Biome. “It sounded exciting, so I kept an eye on it. When a position came up, I applied.”
The timing was tricky — right before the COVID lockdown. “I thought I’d never hear back, so I took a temporary job at a hospital taking blood samples. After three weeks, SNIPR contacted me, and I was thrilled to join.”
Learning and Contributing
Tina started in assay development as a Senior Laboratory Technician — a new area compared to her previous molecular biology work. “It was something completely different, but I’ve enjoyed learning. There have been many different assays over time, and it’s been fun to be part of that.”
Her days are varied, mostly in the lab. “We plan experiments week by week, depending on what’s needed. I like having the freedom to organize my work and being part of something meaningful.”
What motivates her most? “Learning new things and contributing to something that really makes a difference. When we worked on the expanded access case, it was incredible — suddenly, you realize you’ve helped save someone’s life. That makes you proud.”
Feeling grateful
Tina’s journey spans decades. “I trained as a lab technician back in 1979–80, worked in different roles for many years, and even had a period with two jobs — evenings in home care.”
Now, at SNIPR, she values the culture and purpose. “People are engaged and driven by interest. There’s warmth and humor here — you can laugh together no matter where you come from.”
I’ve always liked my work, but here I’ve felt a great sense of accomplishment. We’ve achieved things that make me think, wow, I’m proud to have been part of that.”
