Growing with SNIPR — From Startup to Clinical Trials

Virginia joined SNIPR in 2017, when the company was just six employees. She started as a scientist and stepped straight into the lab on her first day. “It was intense and challenging but exciting. We were creating the first CRISPR-based constructs to kill bacteria, and the results were strong enough to be presented at the big JP Morgan conference shortly after.”

Development, Support, and Growth

Over the years, Virginia has grown through several roles — from scientist to senior scientist, and now project manager. “It was a natural transition. I moved from hands-on lab work to leading projects and learning about clinical development and human studies.”

She credits SNIPR’s leadership for supporting her growth. “I’ve always felt heard and supported. I’ve been given the chance to explore new roles, take courses, and expand my skills — and I’m still learning every day.”

Her work is deeply personal. “I’ve worked on projects within diabetes and Parkinson’s — which is close to my heart. “Also, seeing SNIPR001 used compassionately and making a real difference for patients — something we were creating in the lab just a few years ago — is incredibly rewarding.”

A Culture of Openness and Belonging

Eight years in, Virginia still feels energized by her work, “still demanding and inspiring!". For her, the combination of culture and impact makes the difference. “It’s a very welcoming company, full of good people. We are a mix of curious, easy-going colleagues working together. It’s a real team.”

What keeps her here? “I've had the opportunity to grow, while contributing meaningfully to the scale up of the company, from a handful of people to clinical stageThat’s something special.”
